Our client is seeking an experienced, hard-working freelance Junior Editor with demonstrable experience in delivering web content at scale that will drive traffic and readership. The editor will play a hands-on role in content development and creation driven by website data. They will be expected to help drive a scaling up of content that can attract and engage new audiences.
Responsibilities:

Report to Chief Editor

Develop, deliver and post website editorial content for news, competitions and athlete pages

Leading on producing editorial content to support selected organisational initiatives and campaigns

Using SEO functions and principles to enable strong search performance and drive up discoverability and readership

Development of mass appeal editorial content plans and activation thereof; co-ordinating with digital and social team to integrate into wider planning

Event based editorial and reporting; editorial support across a large calendar of sporting events (including in real-time during evening or weekend events)

Co-ordination with other stakeholders including other sports federations and media or technical partners

Deputising for Chief Editor if required
Experience and skills

Outstanding written English and portfolio of articles and other relevant writing, preferably within sport

Experience with major content and editorial production within a sporting environment; evidence of producing content at scale in a busy and fast-paced context

Experience with either sports rightsholder website, or sports/entertainment publisher (in the style of Buzzfeed, SportsBible, Vice etc)

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills

Strong experience with CMS systems and archive management systems

Content planning via online planning tools

Ability to work remotely

Understanding of track and field desired
